With the heartbreaking 20-17 loss for the knights last night I’ve come to realization that the Knights season is pretty much over.
The frustrating part is that we were 3 CLOSE games out from 3rd spot. Its a tribute to how close this competition is this year (Ignoring the 2 superior teams). Injuries have derailed this season though. Oh well, there’s always next year
The GOOD news is that the Steelers open up training camp tomorrow. Time to see if the 3rd head coach in the last 39 years for the Steelers can take this team back to the playoffs and the Superbowl!
Some questions I can’t wait to see answered
- How will Mike Tomlin fair this season as the Steelers new head coach? Will he bring back that fire on defense that we have been sorely missing?
- Will Alan Faneca shut the f*(*ck up and play to his usual high standard?
- Will our first 2 draft choices, both outside linebackers, help the pathetic pass rush we had last year?
- Will Ben Roethlisberger return to form this year? He’s off to a good start without being in a head on motorcycle accident and his appendix is gone now

- Can we beat the Ravens this year??
Aargghh! I can’t wait, hurry up Tuesday

For those that know me, I have had a few years of ongoing issues with my right big toenail!! Last year I had surgery at my local doctors to get it removed. However, my body is so good at fixing itself, it grew the nail completely back. This week I went under a general at the hospital to get this fixed once and for all. The procedure is similar to the one discussed here and here but includes the removal of the entire nail and nail bed.
Its been a few days since the surgery and I wanted to change the bandage because of the bloodstains we noticed around the house (oops)
I forgot to take too many pics last time I had the surgery so jumped at the chance this time. Now, I warn you these pics aren’t for the faint of heart. It took me at least 2 hours just to remove the bandage!! It’s bloody sensitive I tell you

This week I attended a seminar at Atlassian’s Sydney office. The seminar was called ‘How do you grow wiki adoption‘ and was presented by Stewart Mader, Wiki evangelist for Atlassian. It was a great opportunity to get an idea from established users of Wiki’s on how to help your workplace make more use of a Wiki. At my work at Maptek, we have been using a Wiki on and off for the past few years (for Minesuite Product Development) but its still a long way from becoming standard.
Stewart runs a site called wikipatterns that lists different patterns and anti-patterns to promote wiki use in your organisation.
A big thanks also to the guys at Atlassian who hosted the seminar. I was lucky enough to be given a tour of the development areas by two of the confluence developers. Just talking to these guys you get a feel for the knowledge and skill Atlassian possess for software development. On a slightly different note, the picture below is taken by me having a beer at a pub before the seminar. That’s Atlassian’s door right there. With a pub that close, how do they ever get any work done?
